Beyond Borders Passport Registration & International Travel Tradeshow is truly a one of kind event designed with the express interest of the Dedicated Non-Passport Traveler. What is a dedicated non-passport traveler you ask? Well until 2005 many United States citizens enjoyed the privilege of traveling and vacationing to other countries using only their birth certificates and valid government photo ID.

Since then many US citizens are slowly applying for and receiving valid passports. Today approximately 60% of US citizens are still without valid passports and by January 2008 everyone entering or returning to the United States will need a Passport to enter.

According to the State Department travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada will be required to have a passport to enter or reenter the United States. This is a change from prior travel requirements and will affect all United States Citizens entering the United States from countries within the Western Hemisphere who do not currently possess valid passports. These new requirements will affect certain foreign nationals who currently are not required to present a passport to travel to the United States . For more detailed information log onto www.travel.state.gov/travel.

The final faze will go into affect January 2008. BEYOND BORDERS will provide the general population in a select location one convenient location to apply for or to renew their passports, while meeting International Destination Specialist, Travel Agents, Tourist and Convention Bureaus, hotel representatives and Airlines. Speakers will be on hand to provide information on topics ranging from airport security, safe destinations to planning an exotic destination wedding.

U.S. PASSPORT (Temporary Travel Flexibility)

The U.S. Departments of State and Homeland Security announced on June 8, 2007 that U.S. citizens traveling to Mexico, Bahamas who have applied for but not yet received passports can nevertheless temporarily enter and depart from the United States by air with a government issued photo identification and Department of State official proof of application for a passport through September 30, 2007. The federal government is making this accommodation for air travel due to longer than expected processing times for passport applications in the face of record-breaking demand.

Adults who have applied for but not yet received a passport should present government-issued photo identification and an official proof of application from the U.S. Department of State. Children under the age of 16 traveling with their parents or legal guardian will be permitted to travel with the child’s proof of application. Travelers who have not applied for a passport should not expect to be accommodated. U.S. citizens with pending passport applications can obtain proof of application at: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/status/status_2567.html.
